Fan review: McFly – Before the Noise, Shepherd’s Bush Empire
When it comes to reviews, who better to listen to than the fans?
First up we’ve got McFly fan Katie Holbeche’s review of their Shepherd’s Bush Empire gig.
“Being a McFly fan can be a bittersweet experience sometimes.
While you look forward to every gig with a sense of enthusiasm and anticipation that’s rarely matched by any other live music experience, those around you who aren’t fans seem to insist on making you feel guilty for being excited. These are also the people, it seems, that will refuse to accompany you to a gig and dare to be proved wrong. I’ve only succeeded in taking one friend who wasn’t a fan to a McFly gig, and afterwards, she seemed a little stunned. A look crossed over her face that I’ve only seen again recently when I took my Dad to see Inception. “Wow, they were really…good.” She continued to look at me in utter amazement, eventually promising to download what was then their latest album, once she’d regained her composure. McFly At Southampton Guildhall
I like McFly. There, I’ve admitted it.
Having seen this band a few times during their six-year career, I was already a convert to their cheerful guitar-pop, despite being both male and old enough to have a daughter who was a fan when they burst into the charts in 2004.
Opening a five-date mini-tour at Southampton Guildhall last night, they again showed that they’re accomplished musicians but they now seem to want to show a harder edge with new album Above The Noise.
I can imagine that Springsteen fan Danny and co-writer Tom want to move on from their sweet pop image but I’m not sure that tattoos and wailing guitars are what their audience expects.
There were high spots in the set as they revisited some of their past glories but for me, too much of the evening was devoted to promoting the album.

McFly cancel Leeds and Derby upcoming tour dates
McFly have cancelled their Leeds and Derby dates which were scheduled for their upcoming ‘Bring The Noise’ tour.
The rumours began yesterday, as fans noticed the dates seemed to have vanished from McFly’s websites with no explanation.
We contacted McFly’s PR company as soon we heard but did not receive a reply, yet today the announcement was revealed from the band themselves via Tom Fletcher.
On Twitter Tom posted;
“We have had to cut the Derby and Leeds shows from the tour because of something exciting we’ll announce soon. Sorry to anyone hoping to go!x (more…)

McFly reveal what they love and hate about girls
McFly opened up about what they secretly love, and hate, about girls.
Dougie was the first to open up and explained how he loves ‘the inner tigh’. When laughed at by his bandmembers he insisted, “I do! They are… so smooth. ‘Cause mine are all like, bristely and disgusting and sweaty.”
Tom was a bit more specific, saying he likes it when girls have ‘nice, little earlobes’.
“Do you know what I like? A good set of clean toes.” Danny said. “I love it when girls have nice varnish on them. What colour? Red.” he then added.
Now you know which body parts you have to pay extra attention to when you’re going to see McFly. But what shouldn’t you do? (more…)
