Get inside McFly’s rooms
McFly’s new website Super City will give you the opportunity to visit their personal virtual rooms.
Tom Fletcher told Entertainmentwise of the super site: “It will go live in October. We’re making a proper announcement where we’ll explain exactly what it is and why we want our fans to join us on it.”
“It’s genuinely built just for our fans.” he continued.
“They’ll gain access to our music and to us. You don’t get that with any other band.”
“We’ve got McFly TV, a guy filming everything we do. We’ll constantly update it with amazing content for the fans.” (more…)
McFly’s Tom Fletcher: “People are craving information”
Tom Fletcher has spoken out about McFly’s decision to create a fan community.
McFly are soon to launch Super City, a social network that will give fans unprecedented access to the band.
The most active fans earn points that can lead to webchats and phonecalls; there are also video guitar lessons, the band’s entire back catalogue, and social networks that aim to create a community tied directly to McFly. The Guardian reports that this will cost fans £6 per month, or £50 per year, with the first 100,000 fans being granted “pioneer” status that allows them more goodies.
“It’s cheaper than an album, and our fans spend so much money on us that we wanted to find a way to give them more access,” Tom said of the website.
“We’re just going to be completely open and show the fans everything,” the guitarist also told the Guardian.

The Super Site (sort of) explained
- Firstly, the Super Site represents a totally new model for connencting with fans and distributing music pioneered by the band and their label. The band themselves invested their own money into it.
- Simply put, it is a Flash virtual world / website.
- This isn’t a Habbo Hotel clone. Instead it is a custom-built virtual world into which the boys having actually been green-screened (they were filmed from all angles and their likeness is in the site – it’s not actually Honey, I Shrunk The Kids).
- Everyone will be able to access the site and engage with the band, in some way, free of charge.
- However a subscription will give you full access to the site. Including the boys’ bedrooms. Now I don’t know about you, but we’d happily spend all our riches (not much) for the chance to spend a night in Dougie’s room. (more…)
