TOM FLETCHER WRITES FOR ONE DIRECTION
MCFLY have been given the task of writing One Direction’s second album.
After penning ace track I Want for their debut disc Up All Night, which recently hit No 1 in the US Billboard Hot 100, singer Tom Fletcher is busy scribbling down more ideas while on the road with his own band.
The 26-year-old told me during a break from McFly’s sell-out Keep Calm And Play Louder tour: “I can’t wait to write more tunes for One Direction as I’m really proud of their success in America.
“I haven’t been given a brief as to what kind of song they want from me, we’re just waiting to see what I come up with.”
One Direction have been flying the flag for Blighty overseas. The fivesome are now wowing Canadian fans who have barricaded the lads in everywhere they go.

Mcfly To Pen Children’s Book
British pop rockers Mcfly are to showcase their literary talents – band members Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter have written two children’s books.
The pair, who are also currently working on the band’s memoirs, will release The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas later this year (12).
Random House Children’s Books publisher Fiona MACmillan says, “We are thrilled to have acquired this funny and original text from two very talented voices for today: Tom and Dougie, and for what could well be the first in (a) series of books for the little dinosaur!
“Their shared love of weaving wonderful stories and a passion for children’s books shone through when we met. This is a story… for the whole family and one that will really make small boys howl with glee!”

After their hook-up with Taio Cruz, the lads want another new pop direction for their next album.
Singer/guitarist Danny Jones is steering production duties on the disc for the first time.

McFly to release memoir on rise to fame
McFly have signed a deal to release a book on their rise to fame.
The memoir, to be released through Transworld Publishers, will chart the journey of Harry Judd, Dougie Poynter, Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher from their early days sharing a house in Finchley to becoming the youngest band ever to reach number one with their debut album.
The book is promised to be “a frank, funny and original insight into the lives of one of the UK’s best-loved bands”, through which readers “will get to know the men behind McFly in a way they never thought they would”.
A release from Transworld continues: “It will include surprising tales of growing up in the limelight and the euphoric highs and desperate lows along the way.
“But, more than that, it will shine a light on what it takes to make it to the top and stay there for nine years, all told in their unique and inimitable style.”

McFly record new album made on Welsh island
IMAGINE an island where the only residents are the four lovely boys from McFly.
Imagine no more. The boys have taken over a tiny Welsh island to record their new album.
They are using a studio that becomes detached from the mainland during high tides.
“It’s great,” says 24-year-old Dougie Poynter. “There’s no way out when the tide’s in. We don’t get distracted. Then as soon as the tide goes out we can go to the shops.”
Rock ’n’ roll, boys.
